This document defines which software can be packaged and published on GetDeb, it also defines a set of priorities according to software licenses.
The following packages are preferred:
- New Open source software (Not available on the Ubuntu official repositories)
- Upgrades for Open source software (present on the repositories but with a new upstream version providing significant improvements)
Other acceptable packages:
- New/Upgrades for freeware applications which allow redistribution
- Installers for freeware applications which do not allow redistribution
- Software protected by patents on specific countries: because software patents are not worldwide applicable, they will not be verified
Not acceptable packages:
- Time limited versions
- Copyrighted software which does not allow redistribution
- Software requiring private information and/or payment to be used
